Wally

Wally September 2013

Wally, a 13 month old Puggle, got himself into some unfortunate mischief. Well his mother was in the process of sewing a pillow that Wally had already ripped open, Wally saw another eating opportunity. While mom left the room for a mere second, Wally seized this opportunity to see what a needle and thread would taste like. Although it may have seemed tasteless and uneventful to Wally, mom quickly realized what just happened.

Wally’s mom gave the Caradoc Animal Clinic a call. He came into see the Caradoc staff. X-rays were performed to figure out where this needle and thread had vanished to. Unfortunately for Wally the foreign body was spotted in his stomach. His owner chose the best option for Wally’s health, which was to do an exploratory surgery. The veterinarian, Dr. Danielle Lagace, performed a gastrotomy that revealed the needle in two separate pieces along with a long thread in his stomach. Luckily there were no major perforations in his main organs. The foreign body was removed without complications.

Wally is now recovering at home comfortably with his loving family. Wally better stick to edible dog treats if he has learned anything from this experience. Oh, the adventures of a puppy!
